Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) will host a Linking in Faith and Education (LIFE), Spirit, and Wellness Support and Resource Summit: Equity and Advancement of Minority Males in America coordinated by Emery Ailes, D.Min., LIFE Program Coordinator. This virtual event will be held on Monday, February 1 from 10 a.m. to noon.
This summit brings together individuals, behavioral health communities, career resources and congregations to discuss social justice and equality issues as they relate to Black and Brown underrepresented populations. This virtual presentation will include a panel discussion on equity and advancement of minority males in America followed by breakout sessions on: leadership/mentoring; politics, policing and civic responsibility; life skills; and mental health and spirituality.
“The forum will engage and empower individuals, congregations, and public and private agencies to unite for a discussion about equity in our nation and social inequality. Bridging the faith-based and local clinical communities to evaluate and identify needs and resources will assist not only our students, but all residents in Pasco and Hernando counties,” said Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D., PHSC president.
This event is presented by PHSC LIFE and Success Academy and co-hosted by Eastern Florida State College and the Florida African American Student Association (FAASA). Faith-based leaders, behavioral health professionals, and all community members interested in attending are encouraged to preregister for the event at: phsc.edu/about/events. Summit sessions will take place virtually on Zoom. The first 200 registrants will receive a free lunch from Grubhub, sponsored by Humana Bold Goal.
