Calling all Hernando County artists! The Hernando County Fine Arts Council is excited to announce our second annual art competition for the 37th Annual Art in the Park, held March 13-14, 2021, at Tom Varn Park, 306 Darby Lane, Brooksville, FL.
In keeping with our mission, this contest gives Hernando County artists an opportunity to share their artwork with the community, and to gain exposure and recognition. The winning design will be featured in 2021 Art in the Park advertising materials, posters, etc.
This art competition’s goal is to broaden the horizons of artists in our community and other communities they engage with. It offers artists the chance to have their work showcased on display at our art show, which features artists from all over the country.
AWARD DETAILS – Adults
1st Place Prize: $250 Cash Prize, interview spotlight on our website, and an online Art Directory space for 1 year
2nd Place Prize: $125 Cash Prize and an online Art Directory space for 1 year
3rd Place Prize: $75 Cash Prize and an online Art Directory space for 1 year
Winners will have their winning design displayed at the Art in the Park Featured Artist Booth.

Theme: The 37th Annual Art in the Park is returning to the beautiful Tom Varn Park in Brooksville, Hernando County, Florida. Designs should reflect and represent Central Florida or the Florida lifestyle. Artists are encouraged to choose subjects that they feel showcase both our area’s beauty and uniqueness.
Eligibility Requirements: This contest is open to visual artists who live in Hernando County. There will be a limit of 2 entries per person. All artists under the age of 18 must include parental consent. The Children’s Art Contest is open to children up to age 13.
Design Requirements and Rules:
Artist must reside in Hernando County. Each submission must be an original design 100% owned by the artist, have no copyright restrictions, and has not been reproduced previously (i.e. with another art contest). The winning design will become the property of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council to use as it deems fit. Entries should be appropriate for replication for posters, prints, and other Art in the Park and Hernando County Fine Arts Council promotional items.
The design must be able to include the name Art in the Park, Brooksville, Florida and other various festival information. However, we do not require these elements to be included in the submission as long as they can be added if the design is selected.
The final design will be printed on an 11” x 17” page. The design should be no less than 11” x 17”. Artist must submit a high-resolution file upon contest entry.
Designs may be created using pro design programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. The design must be no less than 600 dpi @ 11” x 17” dimensions. Hand-painted or drawn designs must have the ability to be scanned and converted into a .pdf, .png, or .jpeg file no larger than 10 MB for submission.
The selection committee reserves the right to accept or reject all work submitted during the competition. Our judging criteria will include viability of sales potential and theme accuracy. Submissions should be thematically related for a fine arts festival. The artist retains the copyright of the design image, but Hernando County Fine Arts Council reserves the right to unlimited reproduction and use of the image or parts of the image for art festival materials and products for sale.
To Enter:
Complete the Entry Form at www.hernandoarts.org/aitp-poster-contest. Each artist may submit up to 2 designs. Each design must include its own separate entry form. All entries must be submitted by December 26, 2020.
Timeline:
November 18, 2021: Contest launch date on website, Facebook, and various media outlets.
December 26, 2021: Submissions due.
Week of January 3, 2021: Winners will be announced and notified.
March 13 & 14, 2021: Winners will receive awards and prizes. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will have their winning design displayed at Art in the Park at the Featured Artist Booth. Winners must be in attendance during the event.
