Sarasota, Florida – November 20, 2020 – Meals On Wheels of Sarasota is participating in the 2020 Subaru Share the Love® Event as a member of Meals on Wheels America, one of four national Share the Love charitable partners supported through the promotion. Now through January 4, 2021, Subaru will donate $250 to a host of charities – including Meals on Wheels – for every new Subaru purchased or leased, per customer selection.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Subaru, especially during the pandemic,” said Marjorie Broughton, the executive director of Meals On Wheels of Sarasota. “Without the support of federal funding, we count on our community and campaigns like this to help us continue feeding our seniors, veterans, children and families in need. With Subaru, we’ll be able to make this year’s event a success.”

“Automakers across the country are among the industries hit hard by impacts of the pandemic. That is why we are even more honored that Subaru of America has decided to continue the tradition of the Share the Love Event and to continue to benefit Meals on Wheels in doing so,” said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO of Meals on Wheels America.

Last year this collaboration enabled Meals On Wheels of Sarasota to feed an additional 1,250 meals to those in the Sarasota community unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves in their home.

By purchasing or leasing a new Subaru during the Subaru Share the Love Event and selecting Meals On Wheels as the charity of choice, residents can help deliver nutritious meals and other important services right here in Sarasota.

“Each year we at Sunset Subaru enjoy, and look forward to our collaboration with Meals On Wheels of Sarasota,” said Tim Reeher, General Sales Manager of Sunset Subaru. “It’s a bright spot, and even more so this year with everything that is going on.”

At Meals On Wheels of Sarasota, hundreds of volunteers help prepare, pack, and deliver heart-healthy meals, six days a week, year-round, using their own vehicles and gas. Meals On Wheels clients, who range in age from 3 to 105, receive meals because they are physically or mentally impaired, and unable to prepare meals or go to a food pantry or grocery store.
