Empower Her Network Receives $16,000 Grant from IR+M Charitable Fund to Support Human Trafficking Survivors

November 16, 2020 by Post

October 1, 2020 – Empower Her Network is proud to partner with IR+M to support human trafficking survivors on their path to financial freedom. This grant will provide sustainable empowerment to survivors by removing housing barriers, financing education, and uncovering steady-wage employment.

Empower Her Network exists because fiscal independence is the key to ending multigenerational poverty and exploitation cycles, and IR+M believes in the value of investment and financial independence for survivors of trafficking.

Mark Paulson, Senior Trader at IR+M, said, “It is an honor that through IR+M’s annual Week of Giving and Granting contest we are able to support these amazing survivors of human trafficking. Raising both awareness and funds for this cause is so important, especially during these unprecedented times.”

Marginalized populations were hit disproportionately hard during the pandemic. Empower Her Network was quick to put exception funding in place to keep the survivor community stable.

Empower Her Network operates in nine states, eliminating societal barriers so that survivors can rewrite their narrative on their terms. “We invest in removing obstacles that shouldn’t be there in the first place, so survivors can accomplish their goals and be on their own,” said Kristy Norbert, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Empower Her Network. “Grants from forward-looking firms like IR+M allow the network to take on new nominations for ready survivors.”

About Empower Her Network: Modern slavery is a human rights emergency, affecting 21 million people worldwide.  Rescuing people from slavery without a post-rescue plan leaves survivors vulnerable to re-trafficking and further exploitation, which is why Empower Her Network exists – to provide those with a will to independence a path forward.  For more information, go to www.empowerhernetwork.org or contact Kristy Norbert: knorbert@empowerhernetwork.org
