SARASOTA, Fla. – November 6, 2020 – The Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWC-FPRA) is hosting “Creating a New Brand: Process and Pitfalls” on November 18 at noon, featuring Remi Gonzalez, APR, Director of Communications and Brand at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature. During the virtual event, Gonzalez will be discussing how the 70-year-old organization, formerly known as the South Florida Museum, successfully launched a new brand identity in April 2019, along with lessons learned and common pitfalls during the process.
Attendees will also learn how to evaluate their own organization’s identity, the importance of market research and other elements to consider in the process.
“This year, the pandemic has transformed life and business as we know it, forcing people and organizations to evolve or completely reinvent themselves,” says Eleni Kouvatsos, APR, president of CWC-FPRA. “The lessons Remi brings to the table from this successful pivot and rebrand of a storied brand in our community couldn’t come at a better time.”
Remi joined The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in March 2019 – when it was still known as South Florida Museum. She spearheaded the execution of the museum’s name and identity change, which was unveiled in April. She directs all The Bishop’s external communications, including ads, earned media coverage, social media and the website. Prior to joining The Bishop, Remi was vice president at Public Communications Inc. in Chicago, where she worked for 18 years providing communications counsel to cultural institutions, tourism attractions and human service nonprofits.
Tickets for the program are $10/FPRA members, $15/guests; cost includes access to the recordings after the event. To register, visit cwcfpra.com/events. This event is sponsored by Grapevine Communications.
