One in four women is considering changing careers or quitting the workforce, according to a new study. And with the combined demands of motherhood, changing work dynamics, and various mental health stressors, it comes as no surprise that they’d suffer most during this time. An upcoming women’s event is hoping to quell some of the frustration and uncertainty women are feeling during this stressful time.
This week’s The Refresh 2020 Summit is a 5-day event that will focus on one aspect of wellbeing each day. The topics will cover mental and spiritual wellness, physical fitness, and beauty.
“Most of the mental and emotional labor falls to women both in the workplace and in their
homes,” says Martha VanCamp, founder of #beMarthafit and event host and keynote. “If that’s
the case, where do they find relief? The purpose of this summit is to make them intentional
about five days when they can focus on themselves.”
The summit will address mental and spiritual wellness as well as provide tips on how to feel
beautiful, healthy, and energized as a working mom.
“There’s so much praise around women who self-sacrifice, as if it’s this noble thing. But the truth
is if we don’t fight for our time to nurture ourselves, learn how to properly fuel our bodies, and
slow down, we’re going to burn out. It’s that simple,” says VanCamp.
The list of speakers includes coaches, HR professionals, doulas, make-up artists and others
who will all speak to the variety of ways women can take care of themselves during this
“Mental health requests are at an all-time high. I’m going to make women have just one more
outlet to get what they need right now. They deserve it.”
The virtual Refresh Summit begins on Monday October 26 and lasts through October 30. To
