Pasco-Hernando State College Partners with Think Big Tech Festival to Aid Job Growth

October 13, 2020 by Post

As we continue our efforts to become a Corporate and Career Academy, Pasco-Hernando State College is excited to announce a second event on October 23rd which opens the doors for faculty, staff, students, and members of our community to receive job training in what has been an extremely challenging year.
Our College is partnering with Innovation Collective for the Think Big Festival. It is being called one of the world’s best tech festivals with some of the greatest minds around the world.
The team from Innovation Collective will be visiting our North Campus in room B-104 on October 23rd at 6 pm for a hybrid event. People can sign up and attend in person or via Zoom. Innovation Collective is an education and human capital company. Through curated events, mentorship, skills training, corporate partnerships, placemaking, and IC software we create grassroots social experiences that help people start and grow innovative businesses. They are partnering with us to help people in a region become a community, learn new skills together and create vibrant places for them to work and live.
Featured speakers include Arabian Prince (Founder, NWA & Serial Entrepreneur,) Giselle Mota (Principal, Future of Work, ADP,) Josh Childress (Former NBA Standout and Founder, Landspire Group,) Katerina Axelsson (Founder and CEO, Tastry) Dr. Michael Hayduck (Deputy Director, Information Directorate, US AirForce) among many others.
Nick Smoot, IC CEO, is excited to innovate how festivals can evolve in these times: “In a time where many events are simply being canceled, we challenged ourselves to think outside the box and continue to build communities of curiosity and not be stymied by the pandemic. I can’t wait to bring the message of Think Big to an even wider audience!”
Assistant Vice President Sonia Thorn believes PHSC’s involvement in an event like this will help to cultivate the entrepreneurial mindset for our community: “The first stages of entrepreneurial ecosystem development with an event like this is exactly what is needed for education and workforce training.  The Think Big Festival will invigorate and stimulate participants to imagine the future of work to spark creativity and innovation. PHSC’s Corporate and Career Academy will become that hub for entrepreneurial education and it all begins with partnerships!”
PHSC will host a small group of 40 on Friday, October 23 at the North Campus. The virtual event is free while the in-person event is $14.95 per ticket.
