Hillsborough Community College Collegiate 100 Program Receives “Winning with Walmart Diversity Bootcamp Series” Grant

October 8, 2020 by Post

(TAMPA, Fla., 10/8/20) – Hillsborough Community College Office of Equity, Diversity and Special Programs (EDSP) Department received a $4,000 grant through Walmart’s Winning with Walmart Diversity Bootcamp Series grant program. In partnership with 100 Black Men of America and the local Chapter of 100 Black Men of Tampa Bay (100 BMTB), the grant will help increase membership capacity and campus programs for the Collegiate 100 (C100) program.

C100 students have the opportunity to participate in several leadership development activities. The annual C100 leadership retreat is an intensive two-day event focusing on communication skills, team building, leadership skills and professionalism. The program also has an important role on the college campuses. Carrying out those roles requires a responsible, productive and cooperative relationship with the local chapter of 100 Black Men of Tampa Bay, Inc., which sponsored the grant. For more than 13 years, C100 has engaged students in a broad range of collegewide programs to ensure student success throughout HCC. According to Patrick Sneed, Program Analyst, EDSP, this is the group’s first external grant for diversity and inclusion.

Hillsborough Community College serves over 48,000 students annually at its five campuses located throughout Tampa Bay. The College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. For more information, visit hccfl.edu.

Collegiate 100® is a collegewide initiative open to all students at Hillsborough Community College. The mission of C100 and 100 BMTB is to improve the quality of life within our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities through mentoring and community service.
