2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the Suncoast Jazz Festival, which until this year has been held every November at the Sheraton and Marriot hotels on Sand Key in Clearwater, FL. Not wanting to forgo celebrating its three decades of bringing jazz to its devoted audience, the festival will transition to a virtual experience showcasing a scaled-down roster of performers.
Over the course of the three days of the festival, from November 20 -22, performances will stream on Facebook Live, YouTube orwww.SuncoastJazzFestival.com. All festival shows will be free of charge, thanks to anticipated generous support from sponsors and individual donors, thereby ensuring that all musicians will be compensated for their performances. Interested individuals can still contribute to cover the musicians’ fees via www.SuncoastJazzFestival.com.
The performers participating this year include many festival favorites from years’ past, including the Dave Bennet Quartet, who will be live from Michigan; Professor Cunningham and his Old School from Barcelona; Rossano Sportiello, Nicki Parrott and Eddie Metz live from the Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts in Winter Park, FL; La Lucha featuring James Suggs live from the Side Door at the Palladium at St. Petersburg College; Vivacity featuring Heather Thorn live from Timucua Arts Foundation in Orlando, FL; Tom Rigney and Flambeau; the Johnny Varro Trio; the Tarpon Spring Jazz Ensemble; Bob Leary live from Naples, FL; Bakey and Bette live from Orlando; and Nate Najar and Friends featuring Brazilian vocalist Daniela Soledade, Randy Sandke and Jeff Rupert, performing live from The Studio @620 in St. Petersburg, FL.
