SARASOTA COUNTY – It’s time to clean out the garage and gather discarded household items, appliances, junk, tree trimmings and other garbage as Sarasota County will hold a free community cleanup in the Osprey area from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3. Dumpsters will be available at the following location: 300 N. Tamiami Trail, Osprey. Sarasota County staff will require vehicles to queue at this site in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition, county staff will not be able to handle any materials brought to the site due to CDC health and safety guidelines. Masks are also required. Hazardous waste will not be accepted at the listed location. However, it may be taken to the Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. The centers are located at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota; and 250 S. Jackson Road, Venice. Electronics, appliances, computers and tires no larger than 26 X 16 will be accepted at this site.
