TAMPA, FL (Sept. 18, 2020) – For the second year in a row, Tampa General Hospital is the winner in the “Best Hospital” category in the Tampa Bay Times “Best of the Best People’s Choice Awards.” The newspaper’s contest, which is posted online, is designed to “celebrate businesses and organizations loved by the Tampa Bay and North Suncoast communities.”
Tampa General received the “Gold” award for “Best Hospital and “Best Emergency Room.” Tower Radiology, the TGH-affiliated radiology service, received the gold award for “Best Mammogram Center.” Tampa General also received the bronze award for “Best Place to Have a Baby.”
Readers voted for the “best of the best” in categories including eating, drinking, shopping, services, arts and entertainment, health and wellness, home, auto and vehicles, schools and sports and recreation.
This is the latest among several honors for Tampa General Hospital in 2020, including:
• U.S. News & World Report named Tampa General as the number one hospital in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area for the fifth year in a row and also ranked it nationally in five medical specialties.
• Tampa General became the first hospital in the nation to receive dual recognition from the Maternal Safety Foundation for two key maternal health programs.
• Forbes Magazine included Tampa General on its 2020 list of best Employers for Women
