Indian Rocks Christian School is honored to announce that Brandon Carr is the first IRCS student to earn the distinction of being named a National Merit Semifinalist and will continue moving forward in pursuit of being the first IRCS student to be named a Merit Scholar.
Since 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation has conducted a competition to identify the top academic students nationwide who based on their PSAT score qualify as National Merit Semifinalists. From the over 1.5 million juniors in 2020 to take the PSAT, a group of 16,000 students qualify as the 2021 National Merit Semifinalists. This represents less than 1% of the high school seniors in the United States.
Semifinalists have the opportunity to move forward in an attempt to become Finalist where they can become a Merit Scholar qualifying for a National Merit Scholarship. Since 1955, only 353,000 seniors have earned the title of Merit Scholar. Congratulations Brandon! IRCS is so proud of you!
