Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) will host a Linking in Faith and Education (LIFE), Spirit, and Wellness: Equity in Our Nation—mental health and resource summit coordinated by Emery Ailes, D.Min, LIFE Program Coordinator. This virtual event will be held on Monday, September 14 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Joe Bohn, Ph.D., USF Professor, Community Engagement Director, USF College of Public Health, and Rod Cunningham, President, CEO, Chief Empowerment Network, will moderate a panel discussion featuring Shauna Hale, Assistant U.S. Attorney, Middle District of Florida; Joe Smith, Outreach Director, U.S. Attorney, Middle District of Florida; Trevor Williams, Community Engagement, Advent Health; James Williams, Senior Pastor, Mount Olive AME Church; Tonica Freeman-Foster, CFBHN, Change Specialist, ChangeX; Al Hernandez, Market Vice President, Humana; PHSC Trustee; and Judge Shawn Crane, Sixth Judicial Court, Pasco and Pinellas Counties. The panel will discuss the epidemic of social inequalities and how we can help to provide systems of fairness, justice and educational equalities.
“The forum will engage and empower individuals, congregations, and public and private agencies to unite for a discussion about equity in our nation and social inequality. Bridging the faith-based and local clinical communities to evaluate and identify needs and resources will assist not only our students, but all residents in Pasco and Hernando counties,” said Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D., PHSC president.
In addition to Pasco-Hernando State College, community partners include Eastside House of God, Ebenezer Missionary Baptist, Hernando County Commissioners Office, Hernando County Department of Health, Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Children’s System of Care, University of South Florida, and DEA 360.
