VENICE, Fla. – Rotary Futures College Resource Center, a community-based nonprofit resource center that provides free post-secondary planning services to students, recently launched a fundraising campaign with a $40,000 goal to match contributions already committed by several generous community sponsors.
Through the GoFundMe Charity page, the nonprofit is seeking donations to match the $40,000 commitment made by these community sponsors. Contributions will be matched dollar for dollar in order to help the organization continue to serve students of all ages and provide free post-secondary planning services in Sarasota County.
“As a nonprofit organization, we depend on donations and fundraising to support our program,” said Kim Kindell, executive director of the Rotary Futures College Resource Center. “Our main funding source has been our annual Comedy Night dinner and silent auction. The event provides approximately 70 percent of our annual budget, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to cancel this crucial fundraiser and need our community’s support now more than ever.”
Tim Wilkins, a 20-year veteran stand-up comedian, was scheduled to appear at the 18th annual Comedy Night. He graciously recorded a video for this fundraising campaign to illustrate how important Rotary Futures’ services are in the community during these challenging times and far into the future.
With the support of community sponsors, the Rotary Futures College Resource Center has served Venice-area and Sarasota County students for almost 20 years. Staff assists students in pursuing their educational dreams and provides help with college applications, financial aid, scholarships and much more – free of charge.
