Innovation Preparatory Academy Opens For 2020-21 School Year

August 18, 2020 by Post

Wesley Chapel K-8 charter school offers flexible options with students’ health and safety in mind

Innovation Preparatory Academy (inPrep), a tuition-free K-8 charter school, opens Aug. 24, 2020 in Wesley Chapel for the 2020-2021 school year. The school has heightened health and security measures and implemented new learning models for the health and safety of students and faculty during the COVID pandemic.

InPrep helps students learn and thrive, regardless of their location. Students can attend in-person at school classes, a fully mobile experience with special technology that mimics the classroom atmosphere, or a flexible model of in-person and fully mobile learning. InPrep is equipped to provide a seamless student experience for students, to accommodate whatever choice they make.

InPrep’s interactive mobile technology, including smart 360-degree cameras and microphones in classrooms, creates a live feed of the classroom for students who are learning at home. This technology allows students to participate in the classroom experience, work directly with teachers, and collaborate with classmates.

“Our approach to education addresses the student as a whole,” said Sara Capwell, principal at inPrep. “InPrep’s education model assures that every student receives differentiated learning to reach individual goals and achieve high academic, social and emotional success.”

InPrep’s curriculum is based on the WISH approach: Wellness, Innovation, Science and Health. Through this approach, students build fundamental skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, and social and emotional learning.

A partnership with AdventHealth West Florida Division has created unparalleled wellness opportunities for inPrep students. AdventHealth provides nutrition and lessons/workshops, guest speakers that include surgeons, nurses, residents, and others, and on-site health clinics for flu shots, physicals and immunizations.

In addition, inPrep built a Wellness Walk Track, which is an indoor walking loop, for students and teachers to use. Students take wellness breaks twice daily to rest and reenergize so that they are at their optimal potential.

Technology is threaded into the student experience to strengthen reasoning and communication skills, preparing students for high school, college and beyond. The school is part of the Connected City campus being developed by Tampa-based developer Metro Development Group. The Connected City encompasses two Metro Places communities, Epperson and Mirada, each with its own multi-acre Crystal Lagoon and Metro’s exclusive ULTRAFi high-speed internet technology – the fastest internet speeds available with up to 1 Gigabit of speed.

“InPrep’s WISH approach closely mirrors our vision for technology, innovation, health and wellness in the Connected City campus,” said John Ryan, CEO of Metro Development Group. “The school’s new state-of-the-art facility is a perfect home for its forward-thinking and internationally recognized curriculum.”

Classes start Aug. 24, 2020, and enrollment continues throughout the school year. Learn more about Innovation Preparatory Academy and sign up for a virtual information session at www.inPrep.com or call (813) 551-0202.

About inPrep
Innovation Preparatory Academy serves students in grades K-8. It will open initially as a K-6 and will add grades 7 and 8 in subsequent years. It is part of the Charter Schools USA Inc. (CSUSA) family of schools and is governed by Florida Charter Educational Foundation, which includes local community leaders who volunteer their expertise to providing excellent educational options for students. Founded by Jonathan Hage in 1997, CSUSA is one of the largest and highest performing education management companies in the United States serving more than 70,000 students and employing more than 8500 educators. Each year more than 10,000 students are on waiting lists. CSUSA is the first education management company to receive corporation system-wide accreditation through Cognia, so every school managed by CSUSA automatically earns accreditation within its first year of operation. In the state of Florida, CSUSA would be considered an “A” district and its high school’s average graduation rate of 93 percent exceeded the state average of 87 percent in 2019. In the 2020-2021 school year, CSUSA will operate nearly 100 schools in five states. Its data-driven education model assures every student receives differentiated learning to reach individual goals and achieve high academic, social and emotional success. CSUSA’s guaranteed and viable curriculum ensures every student has access to approved curriculum that complies to state standards and appropriate time is provided to achieve those standards. This sets students up for long-term success and provides educators with easily accessible tools to customize their learning plans to help every student excel. CSUSA schools often outperform their district school counterparts in nearly every category.
