St. Pete Beach, FL – Buy Beaches First – a shop local movement, was launched in October of 2015 where a social media contest brought light to small beach businesses. The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce asked shoppers to use #BuyBeachesFirst, whenever they were at local businesses. What happened after the campaign took off, was nothing short of a re-birthing for these small business owners. For several, exposure went up tremendously on the new, untapped media sources of Instagram and Facebook. All of those small Mom and Pop shops were astounded by the new customers they had patronizing their businesses and who were attracted by Buy Beaches First.
These small businesses have once again been impacted by a technological disadvantage, on top of an unknown hurdle. COVID-19 has shaken up the business environment in too many ways to count. But, for those small businesses who do not have the resources or money to pour into digital marketing, the chamber is stepping in to give the much needed support, by including them in their Buy Beaches First intuitive.
Buy Beaches First is a way for locals, visitors and our communities to support our small businesses. It is a call to our community! When citizens shop with beach merchants, more of your money stays close to home; helping local businesses, our neighbors and the beach communities that make Pinellas County a desired place to live and visit.
Small Beach Businesses need our help now, more than ever. Whenever you are making a purchase, start small. Search for local businesses first. Show your appreciation for them by sharing your experience and don’t forget to #buybeachesfirst.
