SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County Government’s Materials Management team has earned the Top Green Provider Award from Food Logistics.
While the award recognizes the food and beverage industry, it also recognizes top logistics providers, transportation carriers, shippers and warehousing organizations who drive sustainability in their daily operations.
According to Sarasota County General Services Director Jeff Lowdermilk, the county’s materials management division continues to fully embrace environmental stewardship, which is one of General Services’ organizational goals.
“We believe that optimizing our supply chain strategy matters from our board rooms all the way down to shop floor by ensuring that we are getting fast, low-cost ,high quality products to our customers that are compatible with green supply chain principles,” Lowdermilk said, adding, “Our Materials Management team continues to be industry leaders in these efforts while finding cost savings for the community and reducing the environmental impacts.”
According to UF/IFAS Extension Services Director Lee Hayes Byron, the materials management team consistently demonstrates leadership when it comes to sustainable practices for warehouse and supply management.
“This award is just one more recognition of the leadership of Sarasota County’s Material Management division for implementing sustainability practices in their operations. As a team, they are regularly looking for efficiency opportunities, saving taxpayer dollars, time and natural resources,” Byron said.
Food Logistics’ annual Top Green Providers recognizes companies whose products, services, or exemplary leadership is enhances sustainability programs and other energy saving installations, according to the publication.
