Tampa, FL – Wondering how you can make a difference in our current world? Guardian ad Litem is still seeking volunteers to help ensure children in the foster care system know someone is in their corner. Their world was turbulent enough prior to COVID changes, and a little reassurance and encouragement now means even more. If you can be a consistent adult who will get to know a child, listen to them, and advocate in court for them, the Guardian ad Litem program needs you.
A Guardian ad Litem volunteer can make a difference in a child’s life with just a few hours a month. A volunteer child advocate will look out for the child’s best interest by researching needs and options, communicating with other parties in the dependency system, and establishing a relationship with the child that can have a lifelong effect. The Tampa Bay area has more children in the foster system than any other part of Florida, and more volunteers are needed.
The Guardian ad Litem program continues to provide a monthly online training for volunteer child advocates. More information about the program and what volunteers do can be obtained in a one on one telephonic information session that takes about 30 minutes. There is also a group conference call each Thursday at Noon.
