The Tampa chapter of the American Culinary Federation is honored and proud to assist in distributing food assistance to metro-area families through their ongoing partnership with FiveStar Gourmet Foods. Five Star Gourmet Foods provided 1,400 boxes of their Simply Fresh brands’ “Farmers to Families” fresh produce products which the ACF Chefs in turn distributed to Metropolitan Ministries. Each box is designed to feed from four (4) to six (6) people and contains produce to include carrots, sliced apples, mixes such as vegetable stir fry, Caesar salad, sweet onion and broccoli sauté’, Dijon-honey salad and a coleslaw kit. These fresh and nutritious produce items were created to feed both body and soul of their recipients. Chapter President, Chef Rene Marquis and Secretary, Chef Patrick Artz were on hand to assist with off-load of 30 pallets of 14,400 lbs. of the bountiful boxes.
About the ACF Tampa Bay Chapter:
Our chapter’s purpose is the advancement of the culinary profession and culinary awareness through education and certification of the membership and close interaction with other local organizations. The chapter membership is composed of chefs, cooks, culinary educators, students, and purveyors from Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas Counties and the surrounding metro area. Our primary local outreach program is the ACF Educational Foundation’s Chef & Child Initiative, an ongoing program whereby our chapter chefs educate children and families in understanding proper nutrition by providing tools and resources for community-based programs led by American Culinary Federation chef members.
