Osprey, FL — Sixteen High School women receiving diplomas in Sarasota County have been awarded $5000 scholarships by The Oaks Women’s Club. The 2020 awards are based on academic excellence, financial need, extracurricular activities, leadership skills and level of community service. The winning recipients were chosen by The Oaks Woman’s Club Scholarship Committee in March from a pool of 48 applicants.
The Oaks Women’s Club will distribute $80,000 to fund these scholarships with an additional $37,000 to be awarded to second year scholarship recipients (from the class of 2019) who meet specific criteria.
The annual April luncheon to honor scholarship recipients was postponed due to the Covid-19 virus. The 448 members of The Oaks Women Club are planning to spotlight the young women and their achievements during a rescheduled awards luncheon in December.
