Live Oak Theatre Announces Its Remaining Summer Camp Programs

Due to the popularity of the camp programs, the summer program has expanded. 

Brooksville, Florida (June 27, 2020) – Live Oak Theatre announces that the summer performing arts camp program has expanded. Although there are limited enrollments, due to CDC guidelines, there are still openings for the following camps:

July 6th-10th, 10am-2pm Dance Workshop for ages 6-18 Dancers will have classes in Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Musical Theatre. Guest faculty including Ashlyn Bolton and Andi Garner will join Dance Director Jane Geddings and others. Rotate through four classes per day, taught at three experience levels. Dance attire is appreciated, no spaghetti straps or midriff leotards please. Tuition is $75 per student.

July 6th-10th, 4pm-8pm Improvisation Camp ages 10 through 18. Tuition is $75 per student. Improv students will embark on a comedic journey with their instructors Kevan Richards and Esprit Herbert as they learn about the art of improvisation both in speech and in movement. During an action packed week of Theatre and Improv games and exercises students will learn skills that will assist them in thinking on their feet, being confident in their actions, and being comfortable with going with the flow because in improv, anything can happen!

July 13th-24th, 10am-2pm Peter Pan Production Camp session 1 for students ages 8 to 18. Younger children will be considered if they have successfully completed the introduction to musical theatre camp held in June. Participants must be available to attend a casting meeting on Saturday, July 11th.This program will conclude with performances for family on Saturday, July 25th. Tuition is $200 per student.

July 27th-August 7th, 10am-2pm Peter Pan Production Camp session 2 for students ages 8 to 18. Younger children will be considered if they have successfully completed the introduction to musical theatre camp held in June. Participants must be available to attend a casting meeting on Friday, July 24th. This program will conclude with performances for family on Saturday, August 8th. Tuition is $200 per student.

August 10th-17th, 10am-2pm Choreography Intensive Ages 13-Adult. Dance experience is helpful, though not required. Explore fundamentals of movement and how to apply them in different styles of choreography. Dancers will be choreographing a group piece pertinent to this moment in history using social distancing and principles of physics.

August 17th-21st, 9am-noon Pre-K Dance Camp for boys and girls ages 3-5 Campers will build a fairy magic garden, and explore stories songs and dances about the magic of the Little People.

Students should bring lunch/dinner with them to camp, along with water and a healthy snack. They may want to also bring a pencil and notebook or paper and a folder.

Due to the covid-19 crisis, Camp tuition has been reduced to $75 per week. However, we regret that no scholarships are currently available. Scholarship sponsors for families affected by covid-19 are certainly welcome. 

The camps will utilize all available space within the Center for the Arts – both inside and outside. Groups will be limited to only eight or nine campers and each camp will have limited enrollment opportunities, due to adherence to social distancing guidelines.
