Tampa, FL (June 25, 2020) – Today, the Tampa Bay Rays announced the official launch of their mobile experience within the MLB Ballpark App in partnership with Venuetize, the leading mobile technology platform for connected commerce and smart venues in sports and entertainment. The MLB Ballpark App is available on both Google Play and Apple App Stores. The Rays continue to deliver contactless solutions for their fans, as last season they became one of the first professional sports venues in the United States to go cash-free. When fans return to Tropicana Field, they will be able to use the MLB Ballpark App along many interaction points that align with a more touchless experience.
“Now more than ever people are turning to mobile technology to engage with their favorite brands safely and efficiently. Our fans are no exception, and we are pleased to offer this new mobile payment and ordering platform that will continue to enhance the fan experience.” said Bill Walsh, VP of Strategy and Development for the Rays.
Within the MLB Ballpark App, the Rays will provide fans with the following prominent enhancements:
All fans will be able to use Rays Pay, a mobile payment wallet, to pay for food, beverages and merchandise throughout the ballpark.
Season ticket holder discounts for food, beverages and merchandise will automatically be applied when using Rays Pay.
Non-season ticket holders will receive benefits through Rays Pay as well. For each $100 spent on food, beverage and merchandise, fans will earn $10 in Burst Bucks in their mobile wallet for use on future transactions.
Express pickup will be available for all fans to order food, beverage and merchandise items to be picked up in select areas throughout Tropicana Field.
In the future, the Rays plan to roll out the ability to use the mobile wallet to pay for parking.
“The Rays continue to be leaders in implementing cashless and contactless solutions. We are thrilled to partner with our neighbors in the greater Tampa area, and provide fans with safer, easier, and more rewarding commerce options,” said Karri Zaremba, Founder and COO at Venuetize. “Venuetize has been developing commerce solutions to enable cashless venues for over five years now. Our commerce and engagement solutions are vital to sports and entertainment organizations as they prepare to welcome fans back to their venues for live events.”
