The Sweetwater model, like all other homes build by William Ryan Homes, is a certified green home.

This is third consecutive year homebuilder has been recognized
as a National Green Building Standard “Partner of Excellence”

TAMPA, Fla. (June 24, 2020) – William Ryan Homes Tampa has again been named a National Green Building Standard (NGBS) Partner of Excellence for advancing green building in Tampa Bay and for committing to third-party green certification of its homes.

William Ryan Homes, the only homebuilder in Florida to be recognized, was among only 19 others around the nation to garner the status. And this marks the third consecutive year that William Ryan Homes Tampa has earned the prestigious honor.

“Green homebuilding is a big part of who we are,” said William Ryan Homes Tampa Division President Jeff Thorson. “We are ecstatic about being the only homebuilder in Florida to be recognized.”

NGBS Partners of Excellence design, build, and verify exceptional sustainable homes, according to Home Innovation Research Labs, which administers the residential green building rating system as well as other research and testing of homes and home building products. Home Innovation is one of the nation’s leading independent providers of certifications.

The goal for NGBS partners is to construct healthier and more comfortable homes that are attainable to homebuyers seeking a more sustainable lifestyle, according to Home Innovation Labs. The third-party organization verifies that homebuilders are in compliance with three primary attributes: “healthy homes” that focus on indoor air quality; “lower operating costs” that reduce utility and maintenance costs; and “sustainable lifestyle” that preserves natural resources in both development and building. To comply with Green Certification to the National Green Building Standard, all buildings must incorporate sustainable homesite development techniques, as well as address energy, water & material resource efficiency and indoor environmental quality. An NGBS green-certified home is designed to enhance the living experience for homeowners through:
– Improved indoor environment and air quality
– More efficient energy and water use
– Added thermal, air and moisture barriers
– Increased natural resource conservation

“It’s one thing to say you’re building green homes,” Thorson said, “but yet another to construct single-family dwellings that are third-party verified to meet the nation’s highest standards, as we have.”

William Ryan Homes’ other NGBS honors include reaching NGBS Gold Certification Level in 2019. Having previously achieved Silver and Bronze levels, William Ryan Homes continues to move toward the highest level of Emerald. NGBS allows four certification levels – Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Emerald – and is the only residential green certification program that requires increasingly higher point thresholds in all categories in order for a home to reach the next level of certification.
