Creative Loafing teams up with local law firm on limited-run “Know Your Rights” T-shirt, all profits donated to Tampa Bay’s protester bail funds

(June 11th, 2020 – Tampa, Fla.) — Creative Loafing (CL) has partnered with Tampa Heights’ Busciglio Sheridan Schoeb Law Group to put the newspaper’s June 4th cover on the front of a T-shirt; on the back are some basic rights to know if you’re detained by the police. The limited-run “Know Your Rights” T-shirt is for sale now and all profits from sales of the shirt will be donated to a bail fund organized by the Tampa Bay chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) at University of South Florida. The fund supports bail costs, legal fees, and medical needs for protesters.

“We at Busciglio Sheridan Schoeb PA are honored to be working with our friends at Creative Loafing to support Black Lives Matter by donating all profits from this venture to help those in need from supporting the movement through peaceful protest,” says Josh Sheridan, the firm’s Managing Partner. 

The shirt is available for purchase for $20 and is available in black or white. All profits will go directly to the bail fund.

“The bravery and dedication of Tampa Bay area protesters is inspiring. Their work—in the face of pepper spray, verbal abuse and arrest—will undoubtedly change the conversation about the policing of Black Americans. The protesters have made it clear that they will not stop until real change is set in motion,” says CL Editor-in-Chief Ray Roa. “We hope the shirt helps protesters carry on, not just by boosting spirits, but by the real relief that SDS will provide to those who need it.”
