GiveWell Community Foundation Grant to Cornerstone Hospice
to Fund Leadership Training for Nurses
Lakeland, FL – Cornerstone Hospice Foundation has received an Empower Polk 2020 grant in the amount of $3,200 from GiveWell Community Foundation.
The funds will be used for a Leadership Training program for Cornerstone Hospice’s Nurse Team Managers who oversee the hospice agency’s interdisciplinary teams that serve patients and families across Polk County.
Cornerstone’s care teams consist of physicians, nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers. The Nurse Team Managers ensure that their team has the resources it needs to provide compassionate care and dignity to each patient respective of his or her situation.
“Cornerstone Hospice Nurse Team Managers must be skilled communicators who can problem solve quickly, resolve conflicts and foster a patient-focused environment where quality is top of mind,” said Tracy Robert, RN, Executive Director of Cornerstone Hospice in Polk, Hardee and Highlands counties. “This generous grant from the GiveWell Community Foundation will enable Cornerstone Hospice to enroll these essential team members in leadership training curriculum at Polk State College.”
