“Can I Play Now?”, the second short from Root and Branch Films and our first in collaboration with Odd!life Studios, continues its festival run with its recent award nomination for Best Medium Short at the Clean Shorts Film Festival!! Due to COVID-19, the Oklahoma based film festival has transitioned to an online event this year. Films will be streamed on http://cleanshorts.org/ May 1-3, 2020. Tune in, watch, and vote for us for the Audience Choice Award!!
Voting information:
Voting will be done via QR codes that will be presented to viewers at the end of each film block. Codes can be scanned with any smart phone QR reader. More information regarding voting will be available throughout the festival.
“Can I Play Now?” has earned multiple recognitions since it began its festival run. The film short held its World Premiere at the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival (TBUFF) where it was an award nominee for Best Comedic Film, Best Florida Short, Best Family Movie, and Best World Premiere. On December 7, 2019, the film was awarded Best World Premiere during the festival’s awards ceremony.
Following its win at TBUFF, Can I Play Now? was screened at the Sunshine City Film Festival at the AMC Sundial in St. Petersburg, Florida on January 19, 2020 where it was crowned the winner of the Best Indie Short Award during their awards ceremony the following day.
Can I Play Now? was also an award nominee in the Golden Earth Film Festival, and a semi-finalist in the Continental Film Festival and the Alternative Film Festival.

Our Relationship to Live Oak: Live Oak Theatre exists to enrich the lives of people of all ages through performing arts. Over the years, there has been a strong emphasis on singing, dance, and stage acting. As Live Oak has grown, so to have the aspirations of the performers within the company.
