Tampa, FL – Squirrel Ventures announced today the launch of a new document management platform, Secure Startup, to help startup companies upload, manage and control who sees the documents for their venture.
“We’re a simple to use document management and investor control app that puts the startup in command of document organization, who sees your documents and when, and transparently tracks all activity in your account, so if there is ever an issue with a potential investor, you have the logs to defend yourself, said Art Fyvolent, Secure Startup founder, “We found there was a need and niche between full-blown systems like Microsoft’s SharePoint and cloud storage options like iCloud and Dropbox.”
Currently, we have four components, the Documents Platform, Investor Platform, and Invitation Platform and the Account Activity.
The document platform is organized by pre-populated categories like Startup Documents, Shareholder documents and marketing material and pre-populated with document types like one sheet, pitch deck, business plan and financials. The Startup uploads the document to the appropriate place, ready to share. If there is an older document, it can be archived, and not shared.
Investors cannot register on the app unless invited by a startup. When on the platform, the investor has access only to the documents the startup wishes them to see. So for example, if it’s a potential investor, the startup can provide them access to only the initial one sheet overview document. As the relationship grows deeper, the startup can provide them instant access to more documents, such as the pitch deck, business plan and financials. All of the activities are tracked and recorded so the startup has a record of the site activity.
The startup sends an invitation to an investor, or potential investor. When they respond they are asked to register and digitally sign a pre-populated NDA. Their dashboard contains the startups they are considering and access to just the documents provided by the startup.
We know if you’re busy with a startup, the last thing you want to do is spend a lot of time managing all the paperwork and relationships, which can become overwhelming. So we built a logging system into the platform, so they don’t have to worry about tracking all that. We do it for them.
“Having been through several startups, I know how difficult it is to manage all the documents and remember which have been sent to what investor, what document has been signed and returned and what hasn’t.”
“I built this for myself to manage my startup documents for iGrew,” said Fyvolent, “ It was so easy to use, that I thought I’d make it available to other startups to use as well. Right now, it’s a free app because we want to get constructive feedback and continue to build features that our customers want. At some point in the future we may change that to a small monthly fee to use.”
