TAMPA (March 27, 2020)–In light of the Coronavirus crisis, the Brandon and SouthShore Clerk’s offices will close to the public effective Monday, March 30, until further notice, Hillsborough Clerk of Court & Comptroller Pat Frank announced today.
The closures were prompted by the “stay safer at home” order approved by the Hillsborough Emergency Policy Group on Thursday, which takes effect at 10 p.m. on Friday, March 27. The closings are intended to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 by the public and Clerk’s employees.
The Clerk’s other customer service locations will remain open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the George Edgecomb Courthouse and 419 E. Pierce St. in downtown Tampa and the Plant City Courthouse, 301 N. Michigan Ave.
Marriage ceremonies and passport application processing already have been canceled at all Clerk’s locations until further notice. All jury trials are canceled through April 17.
Clerk Pat Frank encourages the public to stay at home if possible during this crisis to lessen exposure to COVID-19 disease. Many services can be conducted online at hillsclerk.com or by phone at (813) 276-8100. Many Clerk’s employees are working remotely. We ask all members of the public using our offices to maintain social distancing of at least six feet and to not enter if you returned from a cruise or international travel within the past 14 days; are experiencing fever, coughing or shortness of breath; or have been in contact with anyone suspected of having COVID-19.
