North Port, FL., March 18, 2019 HOPE for North Port Partners with New Hope Community Church Food Pantry.
Food pantries on the Suncoast are preparing to assist others as they seek basic nutritional needs.
HOPE for North Port will be serving the City of North Port’s citizens and surrounding communities alongside New Hope Community Church Food Pantry on Mondays and Fridays. The food pantry serves residents of the city and surrounding communities. Their All Faiths distribution provides for residents of Sarasota, DeSoto, and Manatee Counties with additional nutritional items. Last month, we served well over 7500 household members. We want to be able to provide for the increased demand that our current situation within our communities has us in, so we can reach more people and show the radical love of Jesus through selfless giving. Part of this outreach consideration is to include delivering to those who are unable to get out. There is a growing need of healthy volunteers to assist Mondays and Fridays from 10 am to 6 pm. Additionally, the increase in attendance at the pantry has caused a financial strain on the pantries budget. Last year, the pantry served over $2 million dollars worth of food and supplies to the community through the support of the community on an annual operational budget of $2400. This year their budget has double yet is still not enough to keep up with the growing demand for the pantry for local residents. HOPE for North Port is collecting financial donation in an effort to bring stability to the pantry as they navigate through this time of increased demand.
