| March 15, 2020 [St. Petersburg, FL] — As concern about the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues, in the interest of preventing community spread, The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM) will temporarily close to the public, beginning on Monday, March 16th tentatively through Sunday, March 29th. Additionally, all of The FHM’s upcoming programs scheduled through April 4th have been postponed. As of now, events scheduled after April 4th will be held according to plan. This, however, is a rapidly-evolving situation that we will continue to monitor. As always, the health and safety of our visitors, volunteers, and staff are the single most important consideration for The Florida Holocaust Museum and it is our duty to protect them as best we can. This decision has been carefully considered, and is in line with how museums across the country are handling this public health crisis. Although we are temporarily closed to the public, the Museum’s artifacts and building are being maintained and kept secure. Operational and security staff are remaining on site, and Museum staff will be working and checking their emails. We have launched a webpage TheFHM.org/update-on-coronavirus that will be updated frequently to communicate the latest in regards to The FHM’s operations and our upcoming programming schedule. Additionally, our website includes online curriculum, collections, Holocaust Survivor testimonies, and more. We look forward to announcing the reopening of the Museum and rescheduling our programming.
