In line with its mission to support public art and artists, the Clearwater Arts Alliance has installed artwork by local artist Candy Schultheis in display cabinets in the Municipal Services Parking Garage at the corner of Pierce and Railroad Streets, downtown Clearwater. Candy’s colorful artwork is also visible from the Pinellas Trail, which runs alongside the garage. The installation highlights CAA’s “Thinking Outside the Box” public art project in which local artists’ images are installed on the drab signal boxes using a strong vinyl wrap. CAA has completed installations on some 20 signal boxes city wide, thus beautifying the area and supporting local artists.
The public art installation currently at the parking garage features the work of Donna Frost, an award winning local artist working in Clearwater. She uses a wide range of media and techniques to create visually stunning abstract and non-objective work, as well as a loose interpretative figural style. Her studio is at Gallery 1356 and she welcomes visitors by appointment. Donna can be contacted at ddfrost@tampabay.rr.com.
