ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Renowned Florida Folk Artist Missionary Mary Proctor returns to St. Petersburg March 14 to present “What the World Needs Now,” a mixed media workshop.
The workshop is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. at Creative Clay. Participants will create a mixed media/assemblage one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. Basic supplies, such as boards, glue and paints will be provided by Missionary Mary. You bring the fun stuff– like mementos, photos or copies of photos, grandma’s buttons, costume jewelry, keys, old letters, dried flowers, ribbon, wire, and anything else you love. Proctor has visited St. Petersburg many times as an exhibitor at 13 of Creative Clay’s art and music festivals each fall since 2007. Proctor’s art will be exhibited and for sale at Creative Clay at a meet-the-artist event during ArtWalk March 14, 5-9 p.m.
“We are excited to have Missionary Mary Proctor return to Creative Clay for a hands-on workshop in our studio,” said Jody Bikoff, Director of Exhibitions. “Mary’s workshops are filled with stories of her life as an artist and her artmaking process. Participants have the unique experience of creating a piece alongside one of our most renowned folk artists, while sharing in her wisdom.”
Creative Clay also welcomes participants to
peruse its Creative Thrift store, which has many fun items that can be used in
the workshop as well, such as yarn, cords, ribbon, colorful paper, stamps,
fabric and more.
Mary Proctor’s artwork is included in permanent
