Book talk to coincide with a new exhibition at The Florida Holocaust Museum |
February 17, 2020 [St. Petersburg, FL] — The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM) is pleased to present a free community program Beyond the Shadows: The Holocaust and the Danish Exception, with photographer and author Judy Glickman Lauder, on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum. Beyond the Shadows describes the horrific sites of the Holocaust, while telling the uplifting story of the Danish Rescue – how in 1943, the citizens of occupied Denmark spirited the country’s Jewish population to safety in Sweden. Sharply relevant to the issues of the world today, Beyond the Shadows demonstrates passionately what hate can lead to, and what can be done to stand in its path. This program coincides with the recent opening of the exhibition Resistance and Rescue: Denmark’s Response to the Holocaust. This exhibition tells the story of the rescue through Lauder’s pictorial observations. In these images, we are reminded that without the courage of the Danish government and its people, the fate of Denmark’s Jews would have been similar to that of so many of their European neighbors. Light refreshments will be served. This program is free to attend and all are welcome. RSVPs are required via https://bookwhen.com/floridaholocaustmuseum/e/ev-sogp-20200225183000 or 727.820.0100 x301.
