“Pearl in the Hogwaller” – Becca McCoy went from being a working actor in Chicago to a stay-at-home-mom in Palatka, Florida, and lived to tell the tale, as a cabaret. An award-winning national performer, St. Pete native Becca McCoy crafted a taut one-hour long solo-show weaving together an eclectic mix of songs, her own Facebook statuses, and personal writings, that takes the audience on a journey from a culture-shocked and displaced new mom to a woman learning to see the beauty and blessings that come in life’s unexpected twists and turns. Pushing the envelope of traditional cabaret, Becca McCoy explores how we cope in this modern era and how we retain our identity when our world suddenly changes, giving the universal ‘bloom where you’re planted’ story a fresh and engaging treatment in THE PEARL IN THE HOGWALLER, whose title comes from Palatka’s widely popular and best-known attraction: a mudbog. With James Weaver on piano.
Becca McCoy is an actor/singer and proud member of Actor’ Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA. Becca’s credits run the gamut of comedies, dramas, musicals, and Shakespeare from theaters across the country. She has also appeared in films and commercials. She holds a BA in Theatre form Eckerd College, and a Certificate from the British American Drama Academy in England. Becca has been seen nationwide performances such as “Brooke”, the wrong mom, in Motherhood the Musical, and “Earth Mother” and “Iowa Housewife” in Menopause the Musical. She is a popular cabaret and recording artist.
