SARASOTA, Fla. (January 16, 2020) – The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is launching a monthly information session called Career Connections to connect women to quality job openings and funded educational opportunities in the community. Local employers are partnering with WRC to not only recruit for their open positions, but also to help participants learn about the career paths available within their organizations and industries.
The first Career Connections event is Wednesday, January 22, 1-3 p.m., at the WRC’s Sarasota Center at 340 S. Tuttle Ave. in Sarasota. It will focus on career laddering opportunities in the medical field with Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital participating.
The February Career Connections is February 26, 1-3 p.m., at the WRC’s Sarasota Center. The topic is funded certified nurse assistant training programs.
“Employment coaching is one of the most in demand services we provide so we are working to build stronger partnerships with local employers that will create a win-win for them and for our clients,” explains WRC CEO Ashley Brown.
The January 22 session will highlight the variety of jobs and career pathways available at the hospitals, including free training and funded college, learn-while-you-earn programs and entry level positions starting at $13-17/ hour.
“Our goal is to help people see the incredible range of job options available at the hospital and how these can lead to exciting and well-paid healthcare careers,” says Sarasota Memorial Health Care System recruiter Corry Tyle.
The Career Connections information sessions are open and free to all individuals interested in attending. No registration is required. WRC also offers free resume writing support, career mentors, job seeker support groups and professional women’s clothing.
