Lakeland, FL —The WalMart Supercenter at 3501 South Florida Ave. in Lakeland recently awarded the Watson Clinic Foundation’s Arts in Medicine program with a $500 community grant for their exceptional work within the community.
The Watson Clinic Foundation’s Arts in Medicine program offers all forms of the expressive arts – including creative activities such as watercolor painting, origami, and mosaics, as well as offering daily musical performances – for cancer patients, caregivers and family members at the Watson Clinic Cancer & Research Center. Research shows that these creative outlets reduce anxiety, and create an environment that is more conducive to healing.
The grant will be used to cover program expenses such as art supplies and the repair of the program’s donated piano.
