Embracing the Dream – A Musical Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

December 30, 2019 by Post

One City Chorus – St. Petersburg’s 120-voice community chorus – will present a concert titled “Embracing the Dream” – A Musical Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” on January 18th at 7:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Clearwater (2470 Nursery Road, Clearwater). The concert will also feature music by The UUC Chorale and readings of writings by Dr. King. There will be a reception with light refreshments after the concert. Tickets can be obtained at www.uuc.org in advance for $18, or at the door for $20.

The One City Chorus specializes in a timely blend of songs about social justice, civil rights, diversity and equality. Their performances have been described as “joyous, uplifting and beautifully sung” by Creative Loafing who honored them with a Best of the Bay Award for “Best Voices Raised Together in Song.” They were founded in October 2016 by their conductor Jon Arterton with the belief that singing in a group builds community and leads to better understanding among people. It welcomes people of all races, cultures, creeds and communities to sing with them. In this, their fourth season they have already become a community institution. www.OneCityChorus.org
