If you think a quilt is only that bed quilt from Grandma, think again!
Presenting its 19th quilt show at the Coliseum in St. Petersburg, the Suncoast Quilting Circle will be hanging over 150 quilts, including two feature exhibits showcasing St. Petersburg. Yes, you will see exquisite bed quilts and a whole lot more!
The craft of quilting has exploded into an art form including traditional quilts, modern quilts, and art quilts, all of which are worthy of any gallery hanging. There are lots of reasons to come enjoy the eye candy, not the least of which are the two special exhibits, one in art form, and one in modern interpretation, with St. Petersburg serving as the inspiration. Many quilts in the general exhibit will be judged by Beverly Fine, a certified judge with the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges (NACQJ).
This year’s show includes not only the special St. Petersburg-inspired exhibits, and the general exhibit of quilts, but also a silent auction; presentations to veterans via the national Quilts of Valor program; educational presentations; over 36 vendor spaces; a baby sales boutique, and a special display by the Tampa Bay Surface Design Guild. Raffle tickets for the Charity Quilt will be available during the show with drawing end of day on Saturday (sales in part to benefit The St. Petersburg Free Clinic). Bring a family heirloom quilt to be appraised by a certified quilt appraiser (for a fee).
