Veterans Memorial Park and Museum Committee launches awareness campaign to help raise funds and maintain memorials

December 4, 2019 by Post

The Veterans Memorial Park and Museum Committee is continuing Phase II of development with the launch of its new website to help raise awareness of the Hillsborough County Veterans Memorial Park and Rear Admiral Leroy Collins Jr. Veterans Museum. One of the main goals of the new website is to add functionality to help raise funds to support the Park and maintain the memorials.

The new website highlights the beauty of the 18 memorials at the Park that honor the brave Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, and Coast Guardsmen that served our country in the different wars throughout history. It also offers easy access to the Park’s popular calendar of events, as well as ways to support the Park, whether through an artifact donation, monetary donation or purchasing a brick, paver or bench.

Additionally, the new website offers an enhanced ability to help the Park raise money to build the state-of-the-art Military Learning Center of Tampa Bay, which will serve as a regional hub, resource, and event space for veterans, students, ROTC and community members.

“The new website is one of many tools we are using to help raise funds to build the Military Learning Center and maintain other resources to honor our local veterans,” said Tom Fletcher, Vice-Chairman of the Veterans Memorial Park and Museum Committee.

The Rear Admiral Leroy Collins Jr. Veterans Museum serves the community and military artifacts, weaponry, uniforms and other items commonly used by our armed forces personnel.

The Veterans Resource Center, which is on the same property as the museum and park, opened on Dec. 7, 2017, and provides administrative support to veterans and their families and helps with outreach to local professional agencies.

The Veterans Memorial Park and Museum Committee engaged Tampa-based HCP Associates to help create awareness of the Park through a redesign of the website, among other marketing and branding support.

The Veterans Memorial Park and Museum is located at 3602 Highway 301 N. in Tampa. The hours of operation are as follows: the park is open daily from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., the museum is open daily from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and the Veterans Resource Center is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
