Sarasota, Florida – December 4, 2019 – Meals on Wheels of Sarasota will be participating in The 2019 Subaru Share the Love® Event as a member of Meals on Wheels America, one of four national Share the Love charitable partners supported through the promotion. Now through January 2, 2020, Subaru of America will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer’s choice of participating charities.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Subaru,” said Marjorie Broughton, the executive director of Meals on Wheels of Sarasota. “Without the support of federal funding, we count on our community and campaigns like this to help us continue feeding our seniors, veterans, children and families in need. With Subaru, we’ll be able to make this year’s event a success.”
“Meals on Wheels America is truly honored to partner with Subaru of America for the Subaru Share the Love Event for the twelfth year in a row,” said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America. “Since 2008, the campaign has helped local Meals on Wheels programs deliver nearly two million meals to vulnerable seniors nationwide. Over the last eleven years, Subaru of America and its participating retailers have donated more than $145 million to help those in need. This year’s campaign is on track to bring that total over $170 million, proving there is no limit to the amount of love we can all share.”
By purchasing or leasing a new Subaru during the Subaru Share the Love Event and selecting Meals on Wheels as the charity of choice, residents can help deliver nutritious meals and other important services right here in Sarasota.
At Meals on Wheels of Sarasota, 550 volunteers help prepare, pack, and deliver heart healthy meals, six days a week, year-round, using their own vehicles and gas. Meals on Wheels clients, who range in age from 6 to 104, receive meals because they are physically or mentally impaired, and unable to prepare meals or go to a food pantry or grocery store.
