Local Donors to Match $2,000 Raised! |
November 25, 2019 [St. Petersburg, FL] – The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM) has announced its #GivingTuesday campaign “Honoring the Past, Ensuring the Future” to enable the Museum to share the lessons of the Holocaust with students across the State of Florida. Thanks to the generosity from Dr. David H. and Myra Gross for donating $2,000, The FHM’s Giving Tuesday donations received on December 3, 2019 will go farther than ever. Every dollar donated on Giving Tuesday will be matched up to $2,000! At The Florida Holocaust Museum, we remember that the Holocaust did not begin with death camps. It began with words and increasing violence against Jews. As the Holocaust recedes into the past, we have once again seen a rise in Antisemitic hate speech and violence in our country and throughout the world. The Florida Holocaust Museum is committed to making sure that the Holocaust and its lessons are not forgotten and continue to be taught across Tampa Bay and around the state. Last year we worked with over 75,000 students and more than 1,460 teachers in Florida. This year, the demand for our educational expertise and resources has more than doubled. Our important message is resonating, and we need your support to keep up the pace! Thank you for taking a stand to keep the lessons of the Holocaust alive for future generations. In 2018-19, over 218,000 people were impacted through our programs and exhibitions, including:* Docent-led tours* Online interactive curriculum* Skype with a Holocaust Survivor* Speak Up, Speak Now!* Teacher Training* Teaching Trunks …and many other initiatives! Please consider The Florida Holocaust Museum as you make your year-end contributions. Each year, The FHM is overwhelmed with requests from schools that would like to bring their students to the Museum, but can not afford admission. A $7 donation pays for a Museum tour for one student, $35 brings five students to the Museum, and $105 brings a class of fifteen. All students should have the privilege to speak with a Holocaust Survivor while it is still possible. To support The Florida Holocaust Museum on December 3rd for #GivingTuesday and to help bring a student, small group, or entire classroom to the Museum, please visit: https://www.flholocaustmuseum.org/support/the-seven-dollar-difference.
