Clearwater Beach, Fla. (November 25, 2019) – Dominic Provenzano, General Manager of The Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater Beach, announced today that well-known local chef Andrew Basch will join the Resort as its new Executive Chef, following the retirement of Chef John Harris.
A Clearwater native, Chef Andrew has honed his culinary skills in the Tampa Bay area’s hospitality industry. He has been cooking since a young age and started professionally at 14 years old for a catering company. He grew up with an Italian mother and a German father, and some of his most popular dishes involve his heritage.
“We’re excited for Chef Andrew to bring his experience and his cultural traditions to the culinary operations at the Resort,” said Provenzano. “His knowledge of the hospitality industry is unmatched and we know he will be a true asset to our team.”
Sheraton Sand Key’s culinary operations will all be overseen by Chef Andrew, who will bring his own flair to the award-winning cuisine. At Rusty’s Bistro, he will continue the fine-dining experience and introduce more international dishes. Chef Andrew will also manage the menus for the Resort’s popular meetings and conventions.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me, and I’m looking forward to continuing the top-quality dining experience at the resort,” said Chef Andrew. “I love a mix of food – from BBQ to homemade pastas – and I’m excited to add these items to the menus in both our restaurants and at our amazing beach functions.”
Chef Andrew also finds time to give back to the community through his involvement with Hands On Education, a nonprofit organization that works with learning-disabled students to train them in the hospitality industry, including the culinary arts. Andrew, who was a student there at one time, has trained legally blind students on knife skills and received an award for outstanding achievements.
