Let’s talk: Sex education in Hillsborough public schools
TAMPA (Nov. 8, 2019)—The Tampa Tiger Bay Club will present a panel discussion on how sex education is being taught in HIllsborough County Schools. The luncheon meeting will be Friday, Nov. 15 at the Cuban Club in Ybor City.
The panelists will be Damaris Allen, Hillsborough County Council PTA/PTSA president; Ashlee Cappucci, physical education supervisor for K-12 Hillsborough County Schools; Paola Ferst, Planned Parenthood outreach educator for Sarasota/Manatee; Linsey Grove, PhD, USF St. Petersburg visiting instructor in health sciences; and Terry Kemple, Community Issues Council president.
The Hillsborough school district is in the midst of updating its sex education curriculum, stirring a debate over what is taught, how and why.
The Cuban Club is located at 2010 North Avenida Republica De Cuba (14th Street). Lunch will be served at 11:40 a.m. and the program begins promptly at noon. The cost is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Only members can ask questions. Annual memberships are $75.
