The Tampa Bay Black Authors Expo is Back

November 7, 2019 by Post

The Tampa Bay Black Authors Expo is back! What began as an idea is back again for their second year, and what’s exciting about this year’s event is that not only is it at a new location – it’s 2 days long!

The first day, Saturday April 25, will be dedicated to child authors and children’s book authors. The second day, Sunday April 26, will be dedicated to all other literary genres.
The TBBAE grew from a desire to showcase the diverse literary talent that is alive and well in the greater Tampa Bay area. By creating the only expo dedicated to authors of color here in the Bay area, they have created a platform for some of this area’s most creative minds to gather, network and share their stories with their community.

For the second TBBAE, there will be a presentation on Black Sci-Fi followed by a panel discussion, both lead by author and screenwriter Jeff Carroll. Co-host, author, and healthy lifestyle enthusiast Jeffrey White will be back with his popular writing workshop. He brings years of experience as a self-employed writer. Host and creator of the TBBAE Tonisha Kimble will be leading a workshop on getting started as a children’s book author, perfect for any aspiring author that is longing to get their story out into the world. There will be a cosplay contest that kids and their family can enter and more entertainment yet to be announced!
In addition to the activities mentioned above, there will be food available on site.

The Tampa Bay Black Authors Expo will be held at the spacious facilities of the Tampa Hillsborough Action Plan, Inc (THAPgroup). The THAPgroup is a collective group of service providers that enhance the well-being, sustainability, and economic development of Southwest Florida residents. Their mission is to offer solutions that build social equity by awakening a sense of dignity within Southwest Florida residents who face educational, health, housing, and economic challenges.
