The Gasparilla Invitational, one of the most prestigious Mid/Senior Amateur golf tournaments in the nation will be held at Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club in South Tampa. Top amateurs from around the country come to this tournament to test their skills against local Tampa natives and other regional champions. The Gasparilla Invitational is considered an elite amateur golf event, and its long esteemed history connects it to fun social celebrations in the area, honoring the iconic Tampa pirate background. The distinguished local event partnered with Haneke Design to launch their newly redesigned website, which pays tribute to the extensive and renowned history of Gasparilla.
“Working with Haneke Design for our website redesign was a very collaborative and enjoyable experience! Their expertise and strategy really embodied our goal of incorporating Tampa’s pirate background into the Gasparilla Invitational brand. They achieved this and more,” said Joe Hodge, Director of Golf at Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club.
The new website has been envisioned and designed to be the central hub where players as well as attendees can access information and learn about the event. The Haneke team integrated many key features to bring this vision to life including an in-depth history of the event and venue, course information, schedule details, tournament statistics and an easily accessible application for players.
“I love all of the projects that the Haneke team and I are a part of, but I especially love the projects where we get to integrate a piece of our home, Tampa Bay,” said Jody Haneke, CEO of Haneke Design. “In this case, it was the iconic history of the city that came to life in the development of the redesigned Gasparilla Invitational website. It just makes the design process all the more special.”
About the Gasparilla Invitational
The Gasparilla Invitational dates back to 1932. In the early years as a professional event, The Gasparilla Open offered the largest purse of any PGA Tournament in the United States. The event would crown World Golf Hall of Fame members, Paul Runyan and Walter Hagen as champions, and the 1935 victory by Walter Hagen was his last ever professional victory.
After a lapse, the Gasparilla Invitational resumed in 1956 as a strictly amateur competition. Since then, the event has been on the schedule of numerous U.S. Amatuer, U.S. Senior Amatuer and U.S. Mid-Amateur Champions.
