At its Awards Reception on Oct. 17 in Lakewood Ranch, the Business Observer recognized American Momentum Bank’s Porter Smith as an honoree in the newspaper’s 2019 “40 Under 40.” The annual award recognizes the top young entrepreneurs, executives and professionals on the west coast of Florida, from Polk County down to Collier County.
Thirteen honorees were named this year in the Tampa Bay-Lakeland category, including Smith, who is Tampa Bay Market President at American Momentum Bank.

Each October, the Business Observer, a weekly regional business newspaper, publishes a “40 Under 40” issue recognizing the 40 honorees on that year’s list. Candidates are nominated, and then a panel of judges selects the honorees. Judges look for candidates who exemplify an entrepreneurial spirit and are committed to business growth, professional excellence and community service.
