SPCA Tampa Bay and Great Explorations Children’s Museum unveil new exhibit

October 25, 2019 by Post

St. Petersburg, Fla. (October 25, 2019) – SPCA Tampa Bay and Great Explorations have partnered on a new “For All Animals” exhibit inside the popular children’s museum.

The “For All Animals” exhibit provides visitors with important interactive and hands-on learning opportunities focused on animal care, safety and health, while offering experiences with adoption and animal-related careers. This exhibit will instill a positive and respectful attitude towards all animals while learning about SPCA Tampa Bay’s work.

“Together with SPCA Tampa Bay, we’ve created hands-on learning experiences that model and encourage a positive and respectful attitude towards all animals,” said Great Explorations CEO Angeline Howell. “Everyone can make a difference when it comes to animal welfare.”
In the exhibit, children can explore different species of animals and the type of care required by pets, such as grooming, appropriate feeding and regular exercise. In the pet education area, guest learn how to interact safely with animals and discover how to create a happy and healthy environment for animals. Interactive components help children match animals with loving homes to learn about animal adoption.

In addition, children can get a hands-on experience with keeping pets healthy in the pet vet clinic area. Guests use replica veterinary equipment and simulated MRI and X-ray machines sponsored by Pinellas Animal Foundation to learn about veterinary care for pets and careers in veterinary medicine.

“This interactive exhibit provides an opportunity to share the humanimality – the almost indescribable joy that pets bring us,” said SPCA Tampa Bay CEO Martha Boden. “We want as many people as possible to share that joy and a passion for pets. Plus, it can spark the passion for animal-related careers, like veterinary medicine, at an early age.”

The “For All Animals” exhibit is located to the right of the Forever Home and behind the Treehouse inside Great Explorations Children’s Museum, 1925 4th Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida.
