Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble Achieves High Honors at Bands of America Orlando Regional Championship
Performs groundbreaking REVOLUTION REMIXX production
TARPON SPRINGS, Florida – October 17th, 2019, On Saturday, October 12th, the Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble (TSOPE) competed at the 2019 Bands of America Orlando Regional Championship at Camping World Stadium. In preliminary competition, TSOPE was named Class AA Champion, and also received outstanding music performance, outstanding visual performance and outstanding general effect in Class AA. The ensemble also received co-honors for overall outstanding music performance, and placed 2nd overall in finals competition at the event. Over 20 high school marching bands from around the nation participated in the competition.
The Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble performed a 1960’s themed production titled REVOLUTION REMIXX inspired by composers Barber, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, Grace Potter, Springfield, and Sullivan.
“We couldn’t be more proud of our students and their two incredible performances today” said Mr. Kevin Ford, Director, Tarpon Springs Leadership Conservatory for the Arts, “I’m not sure we have ever had a TSOPE this strong, so early in a season. We have so much to be proud of and I can’t wait to see them grow over the next three weeks!”
The Orlando Regional is a Bands of America, one-day, Preliminary, Finals event. Bands of America (BOA) marching band championships are the premier events for high school marching band in the nation. BOA encourages participants, parents and friends to celebrate the high value of the competitive environment for its lessons and to become immersed in its positive life changing experiences.
In recent years, the Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble (TSOPE) was named the 2018 Bands of America Division AA National Champion, the 2018 Bands of America Orlando Regional Champion, the 2017 Atlanta Super Regional Champion, and the 2014 Grand National Champion.
