Julio C. Esquivel Appointed Chair of Tampa Bay Economic Development Corporation Investor Relations Committee

October 15, 2019 by Post

TAMPA, FL –Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Julio C. Esquivel has been appointed as Chair of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Investor Relations Committee for the 2020 fiscal year. The EDC develops and sustains a thriving local economy by focusing on the attraction, expansion, and retention of high-wage jobs and capital investment. As Chair of the Investor Relations Committee, Julio will provide strategic guidance and support for the attraction, expansion, and retention of investor relationships.

Julio serves as a trusted advisor to companies seeking a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to business law matters. Clients value his depth of knowledge and unfaltering commitment to their business goals.

Having been in private practice now for more than 20 years, Julio has vast experience representing buyers and sellers in M&A transactions. He has represented buyers and sellers in a wide range of industries, from pharmaceutical distributors to international manufacturing companies, as well as  trucking companies, software firms and service providers (such as engineers). While he prides himself in handling complex transactions and has represented strategic and financial buyers, he especially finds it gratifying to work on sell-side engagements for entrepreneurs that have poured their heart and energy into building their companies from the ground up, many of whom have never experienced an M&A transaction. While Julio has been involved with small company sales, he has also handled sophisticated and international transactions in excess of $500 million.

Having started his career in Washington, DC, working for the Division of Corporation Finance of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Julio also is an experienced securities lawyer. He represents various public companies and assists with their public company filings and securities law issues. He also represents both private companies and investors in private securities transactions and he has experience assisting with investment advisor and investment company issues.

In January, 2018, Julio finished a six-year term on Shumaker’s firmwide Management Committee (MC), which is the committee that oversees the entire firm. The experience of serving on the MC and running an Am Law 200 firm, with more than 260 lawyers, has made Julio a better business lawyer, allowing him to provide greater practical advice to clients. He continues to serve on other firm governance committees.
