
Sarasota Music Club’s 90th Anniversary season kicks off with The Bay Arts Trio performing “Classical Music with a Latin Flair” on October 11, 2019. Margot Zarzycka, violin, Diego Villa, cello, and Lise Frank, piano, will play works by Joaquin Turina and Astor Piazzolla. Zarzycka, originally from Poland, plays violin with the Sarasota Orchestra. Villa is originally from Colombia, now living in Tampa; he was principal cellist for the Orquesta Sifonica de Antioquia. Frank, born in Atlanta, taught music in Colombia and is on the Sarasota Music Conservatory faculty.
On November 1, Diana Vytell, soprano, will be performing Opera & Cabaret Selections.
Brian Gurl, singer and pianist, will perform Holiday Favorites in a concert on December 6. A holiday luncheon will follow the performance; reservation and pre-payment are required for the luncheon.
On January 10, Haig Yaghoobian will perform a classical music program. An accomplished pianist, he has played at venues across the country.
A Valentine’s Day Special concert on February 14 will feature Monica Conesa, soprano, and Lee Dougherty Ross, piano.
Jane Hoffman, flute, and Donald Bryn, piano, will perform Broadway Show Tunes on March 13.
On May 2, Suncoast Music Scholarship winners will perform at the Annual Scholarship Luncheon. These scholarships are funded through a Sarasota Music Club and Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota partnership.
Performances are held in Sunnyside Village Community Center, Eicher Auditorium, 5201 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota. Social time and refreshments begin at 10 a.m., and performances begin at 10:30 a.m., with the exception of the December program, which starts at 11 a.m.
Performances are open to the public and offered at no cost; donations are appreciated to help support the Club’s performance and scholarship programs.
